This project had me working with a wonderful newly wed couple on what was a dark and dingey bedroom. Annoyingly I didn’t get to take before photos before the work started, but picture a room with dark wood furniture, terracotta painted walls, black curtains and one single pendant light with a dark shade. The room was also laid out in such a way that minimised storage space.
Sitting and listening to my clients finding out how they live, how they’d like the room to look and feel and finding out their likes and dislikes allowed me to go away and work on a design for their new bedroom.
The first thing I wanted to concentrate on for this room was light. So to achieve this, I went with brilliant white walls, white furniture, a light carpet and a mirrored wardrobe wall. This automatically gave the room a new lease of life and created an airy, calm environment.
Knowing my clients were keen to have some sort of statement in the room. I added a gorgeous, industrial style multi-bulb ceiling pendant light, which is not only functional in terms of adding more light, but it also adds ounces of wow to the room too! To add color to the white base, I accessorized the bed and dresser top with colorful accent cushions and throws, a bright storage box, photos the couple wanted to incorporate and an awesome pink and blue neon sign.
I was extremely pleased with how this room turned out and it remains one of my favorite transformation projects to date. My clients were delighted with the end result and are now looking to give their living room a face lift too- so stay tuned to see that project in the near future!
